Honestly, these guys are a joke when it comes to getting your pet to the island. They email you back once a week, never return phone calls. Choose the other option if you're getting your pet to the island - Keauhou Veterinary Hospital was SO AMAZING.

We took our new family addition to Alii Vet a few times early on and all was well. She’s an American Pitbull poi dog, and if you are fortunate enough to have an APB, or any mixed breed thereof, you know that they are VERY sweet dogs, despite their reputation. Well, on our last visit, we encountered a new vet tech and vet Dr. I have to preface this story by saying that our dog was NEVER a problem at any previous visits. No barking, growling, or any aggressive behavior whatsoever. And I attribute that to the Dr. and tech who served us previously. However upon this visit, we encountered a new tech and vet we hadn’t seen before. The tech was obviously intimidated as soon as she stepped into the room. Mind you, our pup was barely 35 lbs at the time, but her profile does state that she’s a “bull terrier” so I’m assuming that was enough to make the tech jumpy. As she stepped into the room, it was obvious that she was unsure as she backed up to the wall even though our pup hadn’t made a peep upon her entering the room. It didn’t take long for our pup to pick up her energy and she responded accordingly by growling. “Why are you nervous? You’re making me nervous!” Then the vet comes in, and instead of diffusing the energy, he feeds into it and decides our pup will be calmer if they take her out the room and away from us for her “routine” check up. Trusting his “expertise” was not a good decision. Later at home, when I approached my girl to pet her, she yelped and ran away from me to Mommy for protection. Clearly, she was traumatized by her vet visit. We won’t be going back. This place needs more people who truly love animals. And if you love animals, you understand that just like people, stereotypes and assumptions are not only wrong, they’re hurtful.

Can’t say enough about the hard working staff, excellent management and compassionate care! We are so blessed to have these guys on the island!!
