My neighbor’s dog didn’t eat or poop for 4 days. The Vet here took Xrays told them that the dog had a blockage and would die without surgery. $3200 later the dog went in for surgery and opened up and sent home. The owner was told then that there was no blockage it must’ve been an infection. No refund was offered. Another Vet told me that If there is a blockage a dog will die in 24 hours. I’m horrified by this malpractice.

Worst experience ever at a veterinary. Doctor wasn't man enough to talk to his customer. What a disappointing veterinary just trying to take advantage of us when are pet is dying. Took $500 for xrays and required payment before any explanation. Don't use this vet!

My dog had surgery here and I found this place to be top notch. Dr. Amelia was excellent. Wonderful place.

I cannot recommend Pahoa Animal Hospital enough. When my 13-year-old dog’s health declined and it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge, I was met with ‘no’ from every clinic in the Hilo and Puna area. Even our regular vet was booked out for over a week. PAHS was the only clinic that made space for us that same day. The team was incredibly caring, professional, and compassionate during such a heartbreaking transition. Because of the exceptional care we received, I have since transferred my other dog to their practice. I have full confidence in their expertise and the genuine heart they put into their work.

Everyone at this clinic really cares about animals. Dr Zack spend the needed time explaining things. Shelley knows me and my pets by name. They are closeby and convenient. My new cat was terrified but Shelley got a towel with calming spray and she calmed down enough to hide in the sink.
